Although I was introduced to programming in college, that interest was reignited by some needs I identified while managing sales operations at a SaaS-startup. As a hands-on kind of guy, I thrive on being directly involved in finding solutions to operational problems, so I sat down and coded some solutions.
Before entering the startup world, I did a year of service in New Orleans with AmeriCorps and learned residential carpentry, electrical and plumbing skills. After volunteering I used my German language skills wherever I could while I earned a living with my newly acquired trade skills.
I guess I just really love getting my hands dirty (literally and figuratively) and making things with creative and engaged people. Whether it's a piece of automation software, a business process with a new angle, some engaging content or a nice piece of rustic furniture, I want to get involved and feel most accomplished when the numbers show we did well.
Oh yeah, I also love my guitars and just about every dog I've come across thus far. Thanks for stopping by!
The breadth of my professional experience and international background has allowed me to acquire quite a range of skills, from the worlds of content to academia to the trades to sales and customer service operations to programming.
